Every moment of every day, we have the ability to create for ourselves new beginnings and new challenges that will help us reach our full potentials. What better way to reach these potentials than setting a goal to keep our mind and body healthy? We have one life, and one body, so lets set out to keep this body as clean and free of stress as possible. Below are some of my favorite tips and tricks to staying physically and mentally fit.
Vital health and piece of mind go hand in hand. As important as it is to keep your body fit, this is nothing without a clear head, and a positive mindset. Living a balanced life is only possible if you are willing to tackle these two aspects, reminding yourself that without one, you cannot achieve the other.
Exercise, exercise, exercise! A well-rounded fitness routine is the perfect way to keep your body on track. This includes strength training, conditioning, and cardio. Critical to your success in staying balanced is staying committed to your new work out regimen. Cutting corners and finding shortcuts will only hurt yourself, and you may find your body less receptive to what you are putting into your system. When your body is not active, it is extremely hard for the foods you are consuming to be properly digested. Exercise increases mental sharpness and physical endurance, and an energized body gives you a positive outlook on life. Plus, you will start looking great, feeling great, and performing to your best ability.
Drink lots of water. Drinking about 8-10 glasses of water per day is an easy way to keep yourself hydrated. Water helps transport vital nutrients, eases digestion, regulates body temperature, cleans out your body, and keeps skin healthy and young. Not drinking enough water can lead to excess water weight, as our bodies store water outside our cells. This is what happens when you feel bloated and heavy. Water helps the liver do its job more efficiently, especially in metabolizing fat. If you are not consuming enough water, your liver has to work overtime with its other main function; detoxifying your body.
Maintain a healthy diet. Your diet can help prevent illness and disease, and is vital to the strength of your bones. Some easy tips to maintaining a clean diet is to cut out unnecessary sugars, processed foods, and any food item high in unhealthy fats. Eating at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables per day will give you a greater spectrum of valuable disease-fighting nutrients. Lastly, eat at least 3 balanced meals per day to ensure your body is obtaining the right amount of vitamins and minerals it needs.
Place yourself in a positive mindset. Keeping your body physically healthy is extremely important, but without a healthy mind, it is quite hard to keep yourself motivated. Every morning when you wake up, think about everything you have to be grateful for. Do you enjoy your job? Do you love the home you are in? Do you love those you spend your days with? Figure out one thing you love about your life, and remind yourself of that. Know that you can create your dreams, no matter how difficult life can be at times. Your life is what you make it, so why not aspire to make it as enjoyable as possible? Remind yourself YOU can do this, not your mother, not your brother, YOU!
Live in the present. Don’t live in yesterday, don’t live in tomorrow, live in today. There is something to be said about living in the moment, and experiencing life as it comes. Try not to get caught up in the “what-if’s” of life, and instead, get caught up in the “what now’s”. What will you do right now? How will you make this moment in time the best it can be? Living in the now helps you live life to the fullest and get the most out of it.
Work on boosting your self-esteem. Taking time out of your day for yourself is an amazing way to increase your self worth and think positive thoughts. Think of one of your favorite attributes about yourself and don’t let it go! Treating yourself with the respect you deserve helps keep the confident vibes flowing, and the self-love everlasting. Your attitude- how you think, feel, and act- mirrors how you feel about yourself.
It is extremely important to take care of your mind and body. Maintaining a healthy mindset on life is a great way to keep your mind healthy, while exercise is a great way to keep your body healthy!
